I did the 26 on my single speed and it was the first "proper ride" I'd done.
46:16
39:21
01:25:37
Av speed 18:35mph

It was great doing it on single speed, really went for it on the "hills" (bridges) past a lot of geared bikes.
Didn't half make me realise I need something with a couple of cogs if I want to do any farther distance at speed.

RoadieT, SBaxter, gb155, grimpeur all seem to have avoided the Quays bottleneck on lap 1. Myself, PaulSB (and Smokey?) seem to have caught around a five minute penalty for being at the rear end of the tribe. Decent day out, thank god the weather was not like the previous days! The handlebar number didnt work out so bad after all and I was well impressed with the rock up and participate method instead of having to sign up. I would give that a 9/10.

I witnessed a ton of people on the sides of the roads with punctures. Glad I purchased a new set of conti gatorskins the other week and fitted them the night before, shall check them for damage when I clean up the bike.

I'm guessing a lot of those punctures were caused by people inflating worn tyres to their maximum pressure. I have a slow on my rear tyre but it still has a good 1,000 miles in it.

I wasn't too bad, yes I came to a standstill and probably lost a couple of minutes on lap one, but when I was coming out of the technical section on the first lap I could see how really badly things had built up.

FWIW I was probably about 20 yards from the right hander before the start line, so I got going pretty quickly.

I was caught up on lap one, I lost a lot of time there and then put in a lot of effort to "Catch the time back" my lap one, without that bottleneck would have been around 4 mins quicker (at a rough guess)
