Very happy with my finishing time on the 26! Got cramps for 6 miles on the second lap, probably due to pushing my speed up to way beyond my normal average which has to be a good thing I guess!

Finished 808th (which has changed from yesterday?)

1.35.29 finish time.

Lap 1- 45.37
Lap 2- 49.52

115th in my age group (40-44)

Average speed 16.42mph which I am delighted at as the best I have done on this kind of distance is 13.41!

Incidentally, if I had done the 13 miler I would have been 14th at my time! Might do that next year!

The graph shows me getting tired!

P.S Everyone knows their finishing position is out of the number of people doing their distance don't they? I didn't finish 808th out of 7000 I finished 808th out of 2500. Only in one blog I read of a 52 miles it says xxth out of 7000...

Looking at those splits, if you had started with the lead group, you would have stayed with them I reckon. I was taken by susrprise at the start and a lead group shot off from the rest of us. No one else wanted to chase so I had to nail myself @ 3 to 4 miles in and caught the leaders on Mancunian Way.

I got caught at the back at the start. It was a bit of a mare fighting through the crowds on lap one and then that car park and footbridge were almost stationary.

They were stationary, most of us were unclipped a gassing yo one another, could be confirmed via a strada segment...

As most other people experienced, I too was slowed down by that bottleneck at the bridge. Although I very much enjoyed the section through MediaCityUK. I intend to be a lot faster next year

I only did the 26 as I was put off the 52 by the 18mph average. Glad I did the 26 though since it meant I could push myself all the way round. If I'd done the 52 I'd have had to pace myself a bit more and the best bit about yesterday was going as fast as I could on the closed roads. (Plus I had to cycle 10 miles each way to and from the event). 52 next year though if they do it again. :-)

Still part of the team !
That was good fun and, as everyone else has said, it was very well organised and good value.

I did the 2 lap ride acting a domestique for my GF and she cheekily nipped in front as we got to the line, just as I was looking round so that we could finish together.
"You snooze, you lose" she said. She must have been listening to grimpeur.

So you'd expect very similar times.
No; I did 1:29:27, she did 1:30:48.

The only difference was that I popped into the Old Trafford feed station on the second lap to see what they had (I got some jelly babies while I was there) and I was stationary for less than a minute.

My top tip for a fast time; go through the feed station, even if you don't stop. It's easier than training.
