I'm back! Yippeee
why is it when i get abuse from a fat balding smokeing waste of human flesh, i have to bite my lip or refrain from physicaly showing him that
1. hes nowhere near as tough as he thinks he is
2. that its rude to shout and swear after cuting someone cutting someone up!
I rember growing up in a world when if someone swore or abused me it was fine to slap the buggers, or indeed give then a punch on the nose! i want to change the way we give out human rights! they should be earnt not given, if my rights are ignored,I demand that the one concerned forfiet his! if they behave like animals its only fair and right that they are treated like animals, (actualy i wouldent treat an animal badly) but would love to punch and slap some rude abusive people who i Quote "will rip my xxxxing head off" into subision and then talk to them a bit pointing out the error of there ways.
to do nothing for fear of prosicution makes me feel like crap and oneday it may be a price worth paying! rant over now i feel loads better thanks for being there

Calm down, calm down, he's not worth getting worked up about.

If he's in a car, fat, and smoking then he'll probably die long before you, unless the stress from your encounter gets you first.

It doesn't happen to me often, but I have responded with something along the lines of, "Oh well, I'm glad I'm not a fat, unhealthy, ugly, frustrated old idiot like you. And you know what? Women actually find me attractive - it's something to do with being tall, fit and slim. Unlike you". That usually gets them purple-faced and foaming at the mouth ...

Stuff that. I would of told him to get out the car and chinned him. Put then he will prob run me over. It's a tuff one these days because like you said about the police and law. Every dog has it's day he will get what he deserves sooner or later

Some people shout and rant and rave, you will find most people who say they will "rip your head head off" are blowing smoke, as I always say in such circumstances, if someone is going to assault you, usually they will just do it (yes ive been "assaulted" - not in a road related incident however), not inform you that they are about to do it, repeatedly over a period of a few minutes. So in such a case I'd tell them to either get on with it or get the f*ck out of my way.

It really isn't worth getting wound up about.

Usually I would take this approach, but last year I did return the verbals… because the person who'd hung out their window and yelled at me to 'Get off the road' was a driving instructor with a pupil at the wheel.

Ripping your head off is classed as confrontation, personally I would see that as a reason to get the first blow in as you were threatened and reacted accordingly. I'm sure someone can back me up here, but I'm positive if you feel endangered by someone's remarks and/or attitude you're within your right to defend yourself physically.

If (like has been said) they're just shouting it out of the window, give them some stick back about how they're paying at least £5k/year in petrol and maintenance, where you're paying closer to £50... Tends to make people feel about an inch big XD

This is where video comes in!

Had a driving instructor with pupil pull up alongside at some lights, and started telling me I should be on a cycle path not the road.

Asked him why he thought that .. and if he was aware of the DfT code of conduct for cyclists.

He claimed he was and we left it at that.

Then sent the video to the company asking why their driver was teaching his pupils that cyclists should be on the cycle path when it was neither in the Highway Code, and (at the speed I was travelling) was advised against bythe Department for Transport.

I then expressed my concern over his poor professional knowledge, and asked what they were going to do about the wrong information being given to their pupils

Got a lovely letter of apology from the driving school and (if you believe the letter) he had been told he was in error and they had also told the pupil that the instructor was wrong and that cycle paths were discretionary and not always suitable
