Does anyone have up to date reliable info on SRAM and Shimano group set weights. Most of what I can find seems to be out of date and inconsistent.

Cheers :-)

Have you emailed the manufacturers?

One thing I've learnt in life, don't trust the people trying to sell you stuff :-)

I could of sworn a few weeks ago I found a site with a pretty up to date like for like table based on the reviewers own measurements but starting to think I imagined it!! :-)

This is probably the most up-to-date and easy to use comparison currently.

Funnily enough I just came across that a few minutes ago!! :-) Looks like it's a pretty fair weight saving Force 22 v 105 and even a small saving over Ultegra.

Think I've already decided I'll go for Force but just like to make sure I've covered most bases!! My only remaining concern is how fiddly the front mech will be to set up properly.

Not fiddly at all.

Excellent, as soon as my bonus is paid project overhaul can begin :-)

Had a go with the Double Tap at the London Bike Show and I was surprised how easy it was to adapt to and how positive the shift was.

BTW, I made the assumption you were referring to the front mech's with the Yaw feature, is this correct? Sorry if I jumped to conclusions.

Yep. I like the idea of being able to use all the gears as sometimes when I just need to knock it down/up for a few seconds. I know it probably technically doesn't do the chain any good but to be honest I do it with my current Shimano set using the trim function and still get what I feel is reasonable life out of my chain for how much they cost to replace. The problem with having to trim is occasional I accidentally change the front gear altogether which totally screws my cadence.

I also like having something a bit different to the norm so fancy a change from Shimano :-)

Setting up a Yaw mech is VERY easy 1st time round as there are lines marked on it and a certain process you go through. After that it is a tiny bit more tricky (as the lines are only relevant when brand new in the factory setting) but not a lot and there are video's on line. I've had a SRAM Red Yaw mech for maybe 2 seasons now and it is great!

Cool. Will all be a bit of a learning curve anyway as I've never installed a groupset from scratch. I've effectively done most bits other than new levers and front mech though. The one bit I will need to look into is working out outer cable lengths as I'm going from cables that run externally out of the hoods.

Now just need to work out if I can afford both the groupset and power meter at the same time :-)
