Soooo... i'm about a month in and it was fairly evident from the first few days that the majority of my riding will be done on the roads. so, today i treated myself to a new (to me) 2nd hand good condition 2012 Boardman road bike.
I got it for an absolute song from a guy who'd just upgraded to a brand new carbon framed super duper bells and whistles bike.
I rode it back home today, around 10 miles, wow, what a completely different ride. quicker, (bit wobblier, never had a proper road bike in my life) but really like it. Gave it a good clean, re-taped the handlebars with some nice black tape (the white handlebar tape was really grubby, why on earth was white chosen as standard?) and gave it a bit of a service (youtube is wonderful).
Can't wait to take it for a proper ride tomorrow
I am going to keep the Trek 7.3fx mainly for work. (I'm a handyman and work only in se23) and with the rack fitted, i can throw most of my 'required' tools for a job in the panniers.
The Trek has served as a fantastic re-introduction to cycling, I hope the boardman will serve equally as well as an introduction into road bikes.

to the world of road bikes! Switching from my heavy mountain bike to my road bike was the best thing I ever did! Don't worry about the wobbles that will soon go, I was very wobbly on my first ride but I soon got used to the bike!
