Soooo... i'm about a month in and it was fairly evident from the first few days that the majority of my riding will be done on the roads. so, today i treated myself to a new (to me) 2nd hand good condition 2012 Boardman road bike.

I got it for an absolute song from a guy who'd just upgraded to a brand new carbon framed super duper bells and whistles bike.

I rode it back home today, around 10 miles, wow, what a completely different ride. quicker, (bit wobblier, never had a proper road bike in my life) but really like it. Gave it a good clean, re-taped the handlebars with some nice black tape (the white handlebar tape was really grubby, why on earth was white chosen as standard?) and gave it a bit of a service (youtube is wonderful).

Can't wait to take it for a proper ride tomorrow

I am going to keep the Trek 7.3fx mainly for work. (I'm a handyman and work only in se23) and with the rack fitted, i can throw most of my 'required' tools for a job in the panniers.

The Trek has served as a fantastic re-introduction to cycling, I hope the boardman will serve equally as well as an introduction into road bikes.

Excellent! The new riding position may take a bit of getting used to. You can adjust things yourself by looking on YouTube. I have posted my favourite clip so many times before that I feel embarassed, so just look for "Fitting a Road Bike". Christopher is quite awesome. Have loads of fun, BTW.

:welcome: to the world of road bikes! Switching from my heavy mountain bike to my road bike was the best thing I ever did! Don't worry about the wobbles that will soon go, I was very wobbly on my first ride but I soon got used to the bike!
