I fancy some new tyres. Gators have always performed well for me, I think the last 3 or 4 sets of tyres ive brought have all been Gators but maybe its time to try something a little different, preferably better.
Puncture protection...not so important, I rarely get them(touch wood).
Good rolling speed, or fast is probably more important to me (im trying to regain lost fitness, I dont want sluggish tyres hampering me)

Are the GPs better in anyones experience ?

GPs are soft, fast and lovely. By comparison I found gators like wrapping my wheel in a wooden tube.
They certainly felt more responsive to me.

Fantastic tyres - fast and grippy although just had to swap mine as got quite cut up this winter. They did do in excess of 4000 miles but winter proved too much

From reading around GP 4000's seem to be the holy grail of: Lightweight, low rolling resistance, good grip and good p*ncture resistance. I think it's a pretty safe bet that they will be far superior to Gatorskins in all aspects apart from ultimate fairie protection.

Excellent, thanks all for the replies. I'd done the homework and narrowed down what I thought were good options...nice to see peeps think there is a gain, not just advertising speak from the suppliers / manufacturers.

It could be that they are just taken in by the advertising and don't have a clue what they are on about ;)

Possibly at least in part because of your current tyre choice?!

GP4000IIs generally get rated as the best road tyre out there by the press. A couple of blokes in my riding group have stopped using them because of issues with the side walls bulging.
