Hi

I got a Decathlon Sport 7.2 from "Lifeson" one here today, been for a quick rideround the block, and it feels good, feelsmega light, probably feels heavy to most, but when you are used to riding a bike you need two people to lift...

I think it will take a bit of getting used to, the different possition, and the different way the gears are changed, but as with all new things, hopefully it will come after a while.

Right now onto clothing, what do people recomend I use, jeans and t shirt doesn't feel right! I have looked and there are t shirts, jackets, bib and brace, tights, shorts......

Might test it a bit further tomorow, weather dependant.

Cheers

Welcome to the club.
Definitely,as others have advised here,shorts.
They make all the difference.
Jerseys are useful as well.
Other items like gloves and others bits help i.e. buffs.
Depends on your budget as others no doubt will recommend specific types of shorts etc.
But shorts help with comfort and make this the first priority.
Look at some of the other threads here, as well.

Congratulations on the new bike Dave, glad you like it.;)

I don't know much about the Decathalons myself but there are a good few senior members on here who sing there praises highly. ;)

Hope the weather holds out so you can take it for a right good spin to get aclimatised properly.

All the best.

Well done Buzzy Bee  i noticed a huge difference in weight when i went from my MTB to my Cannondale Synapse and your first proper ride will feel like a breeze after a heavier bike

For shorts i wear Undura Humvees 3/4 length with padded shorts clipped inside

I hope the weather holds out for tomorrow as well as im off out for a proper long ride on my new touring bike

Hi

Just been for a spin, and boy am I cold, ears are aching, I mean my ears are a large percentage of my head, ie they are huge, and do catch the wind somewhat!! hehe

Perhaps I should have picked a warmer day, but I wanted to try her out! hehe

I have just been reading about saddle hight, and think my sadle may be too low, but then I will have to tilt my hed ever more back to see forwards, I have a bad neck already. Is this something that will get better with more riding or worse, or am I doing something wrong, that I should look at.

It was fast though, so much faster than the mountain bike, but still very slow compared to the penny farthing, when you take your feet off the pedals, going down a hill! hehe Amazing howmuch drag a mountain bike has, when just drifting down a hill, it isamazing how you just roll away! hehe

Anyway, thats me updated!

Cheers

Dave

I too have some of the Endura 3/4 length shorts with the click-in liner padded shorts, although I am yet to wear them as it's been too cold.

Glad you are getting along with it - the start of a beautiful friendship until some tart in a lightweight carbon fibre dress with low slung wheels comes along and leads you astray
