Lovely looking bike - the one I wanted but C2W scheme my company use couldn't source one.

As for dust caps - I'm with Banjo, mine are staying on:thumbsup:

I'd have thought valve caps on Presta valves would protect the little screw from damage by something that might flip up and bend or break them or from damage while in transit. Apart from being damned inconvenient this could even cause a sudden deflation, I suppose.

I guess we can imagine all sorts of stuff to justify why we do what we do ;)
I've not ever used dust caps on presta valves, that includes MTB XC, DH, long(ish) road rides.
If what you do works for you, then no need to change.

Cheers, it rides as well as it looks! Very happy with it, wish it would stop raining tho, I have the week off and it's going to drive me nuts looking at that bike and not going out.

When I looked online it seems that they only put caps on for transit to stop the valve poking a hole in the tube?

The only reason you don't have caps on your valves is so that you can point out to others that still have theirs in place that they're wrong and somehow inferior without actually giving a reason. It's like Mornington Crescent, once you know you're in the club.

So you point it out and ride away without another word eh? ;)

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
I thought the caps were there to protect the tube when it is folded, before use. Must admit that I leave the yellow Conti valve caps on, 'cause I like the colour, but not black ones ......

Well this is good news, I thought I marked myself as an amateur tyre changer losing my valve caps.

Turns out I'm actually in the club.

I cannot wait to start smirking at people with the valves still on, guh!
