Goodbye (Good Old) Yellow Pages

Another 'institution' gone the journey. Like many others I can't remember when I last used one. For those who, for one reason or another, don't have a smart phone/tablet/computer, it's another loss which will be missed.
Sadly for that minority, as a business model it couldn't survive.

I was thinking the same... the final nail in the coffin of that tele-marketing tactic.

As a young kid we'd telephone Mr Zebedee and shout "boing, boing, boing..." he used to get very irate. The following year he was ex directory for some reason.

When we were children we used the yellow pages and the local telephone directory for air rifle and air pistol testing. We'd fire at the things close up to see how deep the pellets would penetrate so we could judge the velocity of the 'weapons'.

I still do that if I get a new gun.

Yes,i remember the phone books in the red phone boxes. I think they were tied to something in the box by a piece of string.

The year before i binned them for advertising they really "helped me out" Not

They had a "New phone number " for my business in the book so they can check enquiries.
So yellow pages callers could be checked.

Seems a good idea as it didn't affect my number as it was a linked via them.
Well i had a terrible summer,hardly any enquiries via yellow pages??
Just mobile ..
Turns out they turned it off by mistake so all people got was a dead line!!
I found out after checking this number.

The main reason they wanted this phone number was to block people who didn't pay the add bill.
I had a good moan but couldn't prove it.
I hate to think how much that cost me in leads.

Just received our last ever BT phone book. It’s flagged as the “Final Edition. Hold on to it forever!”
Even I could rip that in half, but I’ll keep it as a family heirloom 😂
I remember when a phone box would have 10 phone books in with all the local numbers. Seems crazy to anyone born in the last 20 years.
