I never knew you could put the 'wrong' size tyres on. Does it make much of a difference?

haha i know what you mean its just the customisation factor, i like things like this to be personal to me and i think having a couple of things a bit different to the norm like the colour scheme makes the bike more individual to the owner, and iv seen some coloured tyres in the photo gallery on peoples bikes and i think they look really kool

If you are going from 28c to a 23c you will notice quite a difference regarding ride comfort. 23's are really fast sports tyres and rather out of character on a hybrid. Try and find something in your original size.

Depends on the width of the rim as to how narrow a tire you can get to fit. If the tire is too thin and the rim to wide the bead of the tire won't sit properly, when inflated this would show as bulge in the tire.
I think i understand everything up unitl you use the word bead. I'm still fairly new at this, what exactly does that mean?

What Bromptonfb said... but it's a fair question. It's well worth exploring Sheldon Brown's site, as it has some clear explanations of bicycle workings and highly reliable maintenance advice. He answers the question much better than I could ;)
