Sports direct.
Hi, I've been visiting the forum for a couple of weeks after deciding I need to get back on my bike after a 15 year rest !! I needed to get some gear/clothing and happened to go into my local sports direct. I know there's a best buy thread running but there's over 100 pages and I didn't want anyone to miss these.

Muddy Fox winter cycling jacket rrp £54.99 - I paid £15
Muddy Fox padded shorts rrp £29.99 - I paid £8
Muddy Fox Helmet rrp £29.99 - I paid £14.99

Ok I suppose you will tell me Muddy Fox is crap but if I stick with my bike then I'll buy better gear and bike at the end of the year. This seems like a great site so I hope this helps somebody.

Bike is a Saracen Fastrax with road tyres sturdy enough to drag my not inconsiderable weight around but it is a bit heavy, anyone got any thoughts on the Boardman Hybrids ?

Boardman bikes are very good for the price, i have a Road Comp and i find it brilliant and i have seen a few of the hybrids about that look sweet .

Are the Muddy Fox shorts any good? I was going to pick up a few pairs tonight after upgrading to a Saracen road bike and not being keen on the razor on the bum feeling....

The muddy fox padded shorts and "tights" are OK, the pads are just a simple foam affair. The more expensive "MFX Elite" range offer better padding. Their water/weather proof coats are nice and light and keep the heat in well.
