I never bother with a base layer on my legs - down to -20C or so I've always been fine with some heavy duty Gore Bike Wear Windstopper-enhanced bib longs.

I've still got my Aldi longs from a couple of years ago. Toasty. Mind you, I wear shorts until it gets down to about 5 degrees.

+1 Aldi Longs...

Should be enough to use down to -15c and futher without the need for a baselayer.

Don't worry about the snow - colder it gets, less likely it snows.

I have a pair of altura longs which are warm, but no padding so they aren't comfy on the saddle, so I tend to use my leg warmers between now & December, when I'll probably look to purchase an under layer. I'll be watching this thread intently for recommendations.

I have some Altura Winter Cruisers too. I wear my padded shorts underneath if I am out for a longer jaunt in the cold. Very warm and fleecy inside though.
