I've got a gold crown - it was cheaper than a white one*. It's near the back so it doesn't show.

* this seems to be opposite to other folks' experience above, no idea why!

Same for me, the gold was considerably cheaper than the white. Mine's a back molar too, so nobody sees it.

I've got 3 at the back of my mouth, fitted by the dental hospital in the early 80's,never had a problem with them, could have had one at the front as well but opted for a white/platinum one instead, dread to think what they all would have cost me if I'd had to pay.

Currently with toothache. Suspect abcsess.

Currently have many back fillings. If present aching tooth cannot be repaired and has to come out(and it is not recommended I have bridge or other)where best to go to get independent advice on getting an implant? It may seem improbable but...the CAB? Age Concern? I mean, who to trust these days. I dont even trust the government of this country. My present dentist seems a pleasant fellow...but you can't go on presentations, can you? I guess I get some name then check whter the practice/dentist has any complaint(s)made against him and his/her practice. Wottacarryon! Any advice?

Ask your current dentist to refer you to an implant specialist If it comes to that
You need a specialist prosthodontist. It won’t be cheap, £2k or thereabouts plus any CT scan costs etc

Where in the UK are you?

Certainly try to save it with a root canal and crown I’d possible

Asking dentists advice tomorrow. Lets see whats causing the pain. See what he recommends.

It maybe simple...or not.

Really have to make a x10 effort to look after what teeth I have. Sweets...going.

I have two gold teeth at the back. When they first got installed, loved rolling my tongue over them:blush:. Not a problem since 1987!.
