Most of my cycling is longish (30 to 70) rides on mixture of road and trail. Did the 215 coast to coast TransPennine this weekend over 4 days.

Ive improved my riding position and don't suffer hand numbness like I used to, but still get some. Think it may be vibration causing it. I do tend to put more weight on the bars than I should, am still reaching a bit far and will change the stem soon to sort that, but I think also vibration is not helping.

I have some Altura mitts (not gel) but think the padding is pretty much gone already. I was contemplating reconstructing the pockets with neoprene - I use it in high end audio amp build to damp vibration.

Or I might not be arsed with the messing about. Any recommendations ?

Ive got quite an assortment of cheap gloves and 1 pair of Altura Progel fingerless gloves which i wear almost all the time. The gel padding in them is awesome and they seem to last pretty well, mine look knackered after a year but they still feel great, the big gel bits really seem to make a difference. That said, ive also got suspension forks and gel handlebar grips, so rarely get any vibration issues.

Specialised Bar Phat tape with added goodness of gel filled pads that fit under the tape. Put it on over your existing bar tape. Damps the vibrations nicely. Use with gel filled gloves if necessary.
