Giant Propel Advanced Pro 1 as a "general" bike?

On balance I decided against the Propel.

Other things being equal, I'm too soft () and would rather go for the lightweight(er) option...

I wouldn't let the weight sway your decision as it will be negligible anyway. Personally I prefer a more aggressive bike, but only you can decide really imo.
