or more importantly the valve? I got a £20 pump and the 1st time I used it I had to put a new tube in my bike and pump that up with another pump I had. When I pulled the locking lever on the pump I believe it pushed the inner bit of the valve into itself and completely wrecking it. I also blew a few prestas when pulling the pump off the valve in the past.
If you are going to get a road bike I would spend the extra and get the Joeblow Sport II, no problem getting tyres up to 110psi, in fact its almost a pleasure.
Only pumps up to a max of 120psi.
Personally, I would be looking for something that goes to 140~160psi.
(Most road tyres use 120psi, so having spare capacity will allow getting up to 120psi easier.)
Evans leave track pumps outside their stores for use of passing cyclists. They would want robust (those things get used a lot) combined with price (I assume they disappear quite often). Last time I worked near an Evans, they were leaving Joe Blows outside, which I think is quite a recommendation.
