The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
How about a puncture repair kit - or were your tubes beyond repair? Tesco do a reasonable one for not very much money, useful as a backup when your out too

Thanks youngoldbloke I have a few repair kits , but I tend to think these failed because of there age more than anything, just big holes in them, beyond repair really.

Thank you

Tony.

That's interesting, and unlucky. I wonder what the lifespan of a tube should be? I have spares in stock which are much older than that, and I am sure that one of my bikes has at least one tube that dates back to the early 90s. I suppose they may perish, depending on how and where the bike (or tube) has been stored.

Yes but don't forget , I'm not hiding the fact ,that putting new tyres on a bike for the first time ,Hasn't resulted in me pinching the tubes , causing these problems myself . But I must say the first blow last night, produced a rather big hole , close to the valve , whilst pumping the tyre up.

Hi all,

Got out this morning, and did a lovely 23 mile ride around the gorgeous country lanes of willaston, this is the second longest ride I have ever done, but the bike felt so comfy, combined with the selle italia saddle I put on it aswell, and some giordana bit shorts, I could have gone further I think, but my legs where saying different, so called it a day at the 23 mark. The picture below is at 16 miles, unfortunately it was shut, but I will share a drink with mrs t tonight when she finishes her 12 hr shift, to celebrate Mother's Day........... :bicycle: ^_^
