Hi all,

I haven't been out on the road since august (had to sell bike) , but have had my Allez ( Xmas present of my sons ) on my turbo , and to be honest have done maybe half a dozen , half hour sessions , doing 8 miles on each one according to my cateye.
Anyway as per title, I'm planning on getting out tommorow, but just wanted. Some advice on what you good
People would consider an appropriate mileage considering how long It's been since my last outing.
Last august I had just got myself up to the 30 mile mark.

While I'm at it , I wanted to see if there are any wirral beginners that would like to go for rides with me. ?

Thanks all

Tony. ^_^

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Anything is good considering how long it's been since you last got out. Don't be obsessed with mileage, just enjoy it. When you have had enough stop and go home. Only then look at your mileage and he happy however much or little you have done. Its a start, thats the main thing. Enjoyment is more important and I'm speaking from experience.

Good luck

I wouldn't worry about the distance, just get out and ride.
Take your phone with you so if you get truly tired and can't face any more, you can hole up in a cafe and wait for someone to come and fetch you and the bike ^_^
Just enjoy yourself, that's the main thing.

I'm going out tomorrow. I would have liked to go out today for a proper ride, but we were just so busy and I've only just sat down with a cuppa and really ought to walk the dogs before going out.

I just had my first ride since last October, I did 20 miles, was doing 30-40 miles last year, so reckoned on doing about half of what I had been used to, & that worked for me, hope you enjoy your ride.

Hi all,

Well what a disaster this has been, if you read my post further up, you can see that the front tube blew, when been pumped up last night, so this morning I tackled the rear wheel, changed the trye over, put tube back in , and pumped the tyre up, pump........pump.......pump.......pump....., nothing, the tyre wasn't going up, this tube had failed, or I pinched the tube when putting the tyre on. ( think they were original tubes, so on since 2010. )
Anyway, no spare tubes, no money till pay day on Friday, but had some money in paypal, so have order 2 more tubes, hopefully they will arrive mon/ Tuesday, as weather is nice next week and I'm on earlies, so will be in at 2 pm, so should be out on the bike next week.
Here's a pic of my poor deflated Spesh allez .

Hi Ed,
This is a 2nd hand bike my 2 sons bought me at Xmas, I haven't been out on it yet, so this is the first time I have encountered the original tubes. As for the tyres these are new mitchelin litthion 2 's, replacing the original Spesh tyres, which I have used on the turbo.

Hi tony, dont take this the wrong way but its not unknown for people to forget to undo the top of a presta valve. Make sure you've done this then give it a press in too to make sure it hasnt got stuck
