Thanks for the suggestions guys!
Went down to my local Aldi (nice long walk too :tired:) and got a cycling jacket and some cycling trousers. And a puncher repair kit as I need one haha.
Now all I need is some high vis over coat and gloves and should be sorted on that front :P

Did you get the red and black jacket? If so it has reflectives on it, which is fine at night. I think the black Pro one has too, but I wasn't as keen on that one. Add some decent lights and you'll be well seen at night.

No I didn't see a red and black one when I went to my local one. The one I got does have reflectors on it, but I would feel safer getting a cycling high-vis overcoat to to be sure.
Lights are the next thing on my agenda. Hopefully some gloves too. Need some of them.

I use a running bib from sports world, it's a yellow mesh with reflective stripes, weighs 50g and costs about a fiver. It doesn't catch the wind and you can wear it year round.. It turns any outer layer into a reflective one. I also used sports world fingerless gloves with or without liners in spring through till autumn. Have just bought myself some endura reflective waterproof breathable gloves, visible hand signals at last!

Hi, and welcome. A balaclava would not be remiss for truly cold weather, nor woolen socks. But I have a New Years Ride tomorrow in 15f weather and maybe snow as well. Probably only get a mile or two.

(Happy new year guys)

Thanks for the responses. I still need to buy gloves etc but it's all coming along.
While I wear my cycling trousers am I able to wear some tracksuits? They are not the nicest ones with a weird pattern on the legs for breath ability or something :P

Those are the Pro ones with a white dotted pattern on the front? That fabric is supposed to be a windblocker and it does work quite well, but I could happily do without the pattern. Yes you can wear something over the top, when I wear mine on the MTB, I put some baggy shorts over the top. Beware of tracksuits/shorts that have a seam right down the middle of where you'll be sitting, that gets uncomfortable fast.

I get some of my stuff from Sports Direct - not terribly expensive and half decent quality.
I recently got a Muddy Fox jacket (£17.99) as it was all I could afford, and today it did admirably in the rain!
They have some nice looking gloves but I can't vouch for those as I haven't used them.

I only have summer weight tights so have been using lined over-trousers (bit akin to golfing trousers) on top, which has been fine, even on the really cold days.

Yeah. The pattern isn't too good but I guess it'll do.
I think I'll ear a pare of tracksuits just to keep an added bit of warmed through winter/autumn.

I dread summer with the shorts and my hairy legs haha :P

Forgot to add that you may find one of the neck things good in the cold - I use one (see my avatar, the blue neck warmer).
That was bought in Trespass in the sale for £4.99.

Ah yes. Thanks for the advice. Seeing that the weather is going to deteriorate I will possibly get one.
Thanks for the advice ScotiaLass
