When I developed an Inguinal Hernia while back, it later became rather more protracted, so I asked my GP for a hernia belt to help keep things in place.
It was taking so long I bought one from Amazon and it's certainly helping matters. The surgery subsequently contacted me and, long story short, they're having problems sourcing one, even though there's a Boot's pharmacy on site.
Being a bit sceptical, I checked the Boot's website and they have them available in precisely to type I need, so I went to the pharmacy and asked why they couldn't order me one and the reply was that the Boot's version 'isn't approved by the NHS'.
You just couldn't make it up - !

Pathetic - why didn't they just be honest with you ?

None of this surprises me. I was given 6 weeks supply of anti-coagulant injections - single use stuff. Asked GP for a sharps bin, 'oh I'm not sure, will have to ask, we'll call tomorrow'. Nothing, so ordered a large one from Amazon, which arrived next day. A week later, my Lloyds Direct App say's I've got a new prescription - ah a sharps bin. Ordered it, and what turns up is a tiny little bin as prescribed. It will take about a weeks worth of the injections, not six. We'll keep the small bin for my wife's sewing rotating cutter blades.
