When touring I get lost:

Whenever I have to traverse a sizeable town.

Doubly so if I decide to try and use the local Sustrans route through it.

Trebly so if it is NCN route and local council have gone for a fancy dan cast aluminium faux cast iron finger post with "Sustrans Cycle Route" on it which has been reoriented by the local wags.

The signs do seem to get turned around fairly often. I tried following some to get out of Harwich once, kept ending up back where I started.
