gel saddle?

Im looking to change my saddle on my Carrera tdf and when I upgrade my bike put the new saddle(if any good) on that.I ve had my sit bones measured my current saddle is to small but my bike set up was wrong its ok now and im giving it a couple of weeks to see if the ride is more comfortable I do 10-30 miles at least 4 times a week in time would like to go further in time.I 100% appreciate its never going to be like sitting in a armchair! but if I can find something 20% more comfortable I would invest good money in a saddle.
spoke to one of the guys in evans and he showed me the gel saddles with the cut out down the middle(its the area between the sit bones get sore as much as the general backside don't know the name of this area is it perineum might be way out there)
are these saddles any good? are there better alternatives?
any advice?

I had a specialized Riva similar to the below Toupe and it was pretty good (got it for £15 in store one day), however it broke at less than 7,000 miles or so, about 14 months.

I got a cheap San Marco from Halfords which I don't really like, and I am saving for this

Appreciate the armchair bit but really you shouldn't know your saddle is there if it fits right.

Trek & Spesh stores do a good fitting service.

I have this (although I did not get it from Evans) and it is bliss compared to the thing that came with my bike as standard:

thanks
can you buy it cheaper elsewhere?

The charge spoon ( now owned by fabric ) seems to be a perennial favourite , i actually like the shape of the saddles that come on boardmans/ carreras as they suit my derrier if your binning it .

If the saddle is too narrow you wil be sitting on your tender bits, so getting the width right is more important than a cutout in my experience. The Charge Spoon is also not very wide and doesn't suit everyone including me. I got measured and bought the correct size saddle now I no longer have to hover for days after a long ride

I use a £14 gel saddle and really can't fault it. I've done several 100 miles/day runs on it and it's been fine. For reasons beyond my control, my cycle lives permanently outside (in the rain), so anything with stitching on it is unsuitable, for obvious(?) reasons.

Position and height is more important to me than is the exact saddle design (although I'd imagine that others' opinions on this may differ).

Both Hubster and I have Spesh BG Riva saddles. Mine is the ladies version, Hubster's is the men's version and we both love them. They are just a great saddle.

I've a Charge Spoon in white for sale if you are interested.
