AARRGGHHHHH!!!!!!!
Frustrated isn't the word.
I followed the instructions, but the damn gears are as bad as ever! Some change smoothly and others (the higher up you go) just jump about and when pedalling they change of their own accord as well!
Guess it's going in to the LBS now as I can't seem to do this and tbh, I don't know what I'm doing!
Ask em to check alignment on the mech hanger whilst they're doing it, if that's a bit skewiff you'll never index properly and it doesn't take a lot to knock them out of line.

How does it get out of alignment? I haven't had an off or dropped it....
It's still under warranty and tbh, the only issue I've ever had with this bike has been the gearing. So it's going back to the LBS and they can sort it!

It may not have been straight in the first place, or may have taken a knock by someone else  . If its still under warranty let them sort it out for you .

How does it get out of alignment?

There are many ways and all it needs is for a bolt not to be tightened correctly.

The other thing is that gears are setup with the bike on a stand and as soon as the rider sits on it, the frame slightly distorts or, in my case, distorts considerably.

Cable tension adjustment is often a matter of a quarter or half turn by the way. When you are new to it, you tend to turn them 3 or 4 turns.

But, if its under warranty, take it back. You wouldn't be the first to buy something with a bent component so save yourself the grief.
