Your link is just for the Helfrauds website mate. If you have the Black Carbon Boardman then i feel sorry for you as the cassette is truly rank think that was an 12/28 i had on it though worst cassette EVER ! I swapped out a 11/25 for an 11/28 and it has helped me but im a lazy bastard

I have trouble linking there website as well so probably not just you lol. Nice bike  cassette is your choice mate. Its listed on the Boardman website as having a 12/25

11/28 ive found a good compromise personally but im blessed with nice flat roads and what some people would class as pot holes i class as mountains lol. Just make sure your rear mech can handle bigger cassettes. I had the same rear mech as you on my Boardman. The 12/28 fitted fine it was just an awful cassette with a jump the size of a ravine in the middle of the cassette really weird set up tbh.

The link you provided just provides halfords front page,50/30 sounds odd are you sure its not a 34 inner ring?
If so and you only have a maximum 25 on the back its not suprising you find it tough particulary a beginner
Get a 27/28 and it should resolve the problem

You could try a 12-28 (12-13-14-15-17-19-21-23-25-28) or 12-30 (12-13-14-15-17-19-21-24-27-30) both should fir being Tiagra and your group set being Tiagra ( I believe its good up to 32th) a 34/30 is almost as low as my 30/28 which gets me up most things I have tried

50/34 compact.

As you have a 105 rear mech, fit a 11-28 (you may need a longer chain)

Thanks Mick - did you change yours? Or are you happy with the original set up?
I changed it, I am overweight and really struggled on steeper ramps, I got a cassette from merlin for around 30 and it cost a tenner to throw on, has made a massive difference and now I actively look for hills !

Some of the gear jumps are a little wide but you get used to it and its the best thing I have done to the bike, if I was minted I would change the groupset to an ultegra 11 speed with an 11-32 and head for the alps, but at £900 inc new wheels that will to wait

My advise would be to take it to an lbs to have the set up looked at. My Boardman gave me no end of problems until I did, and had it set up properly

Hi guys, Louch yes already done that I had a nightmare with the bike initially chain snapped after 30 miles, Ive now got it sorted, it also needed a new gear cable. Love the bike but Halfords set up is SHOCKING!!!

Went up some hills today - was tough going but just made it - think I may try and get fitter before I look to change the cassette. Thanks for your comments Mick.

Did this today http://www.strava.com/activities/80655671 Think I just need to man up and go looking for hills!!!

Thanks again for your help
