For the last 8 commutes (about 30 minute rides) my Garmin 200 is unable to find any satellites.

Now there is heavy cloud cover here (Norfolk) but apparently cloud cover should make no difference. So...is anyone else having issues?

my 800 seems to take ages to find a signal, and depsite what people say cloud does make a differenc. I now turn mine on when I start getting ready to go out to give it a bit of time

As what Numbnuts said, cloud does not make a difference.

When you do a master reset you have to leave the machine outside for a good half hour so the machine can recalibrate it's gps.

sorry guys I know the theory - and I also sail, and cloudy days do make a difference.

You'll still get the signals but it does take longer to lock on
Ships dont tend to turn off their gps

you can give me theory as much as you like (and I would agree with you ) but the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Garmin Edges do go wonky from time to time. I have had to hard reset the 705 before, and recently needed to do the 200. Also check the 200 isn't filling up with files, they done like much over 150 rides.

I have 2 Garmin's, they have always taken an age to locate, but once they do, it is rock solid!

I have a very old, cheap Garmin Etrex which has been almost completely reliable for about 10,000 miles worth of navigating. Almost ...

On one occasion it took about 5 minutes to lock on, for no apparent reason.

A more serious problem stopped it functioning, but a factory reset fixed the problem and it has been reliable again ever since.

a lot of it is also down to building and terrain interference, i was on lefkas island for the last two weeks and it took an age to lock on due to the mountains, but was fine after that

The 200 is usually very fast to lock on, the 705 much slower as it also loads more software. For click and go the 200 is great. I have had the odd occasion it's not locked on for about half a mile.

I think it's bust....

Iv master reset it 3 times now, it's been outside sitting on car roof, surrounded by bungalows with only a handfuls of tiny clouds in the sky for about 90mins in total.

Still not found a single satellite.

I have noticed the clock is wrong, but I can't find a way to change that.

If you turn it back on at the same place you turned it off it should be quick. If you've travelled in between it takes longer to lock onto sats, apparently.

Only problem I'm having is getting my feckin' £30 cash back from Garmin :cursing:

I had a lot of problems getting the refund, but after a bunch of photos they agreed...still waiting for the cheque though.

Iv reset it now so I don't think it would make much difference if I took it back to the last place it worked....not actualy sure where that was now.

Anyway....iv put it on my house roof now...fingers crossed.
