I have City Nav 2010.1 on an Etrex Legend HCx, and I can't find a way of doing it either

umm it is a sat nav, it directs you to points of interest, streets, ATM's shops...

Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is the standard generic term for satellite navigation systems that provide autonomous geo-spatial positioning with global coverage. ..

If it gives me real time directions and works out routes... it seems like a sat-nav to me.. what am i missing?

Yes that's all correct, what we means it that fluff such as full postcode routing is not essential on a fitness device. I would be disappointed not to find that functionality in a car sat nav, just as I woud be surprised to find a car sat nav that I could download routes out of and compare heart rate.

hehe, i could look arround, i was just thinking it must be a feature i just cannot find, seems its an oversight.. or there was a tech reason for not adding it...

great bit of kit though... those of you who have one -- when you put it onto the bike check its locked on correcly into its holder, mine has gotton a bit of ware one the holder and did not lock fully, i hit the menu button while at the lights and the thing flew off my bike and under a stopped car... was a close one..

Strictly speaking, I re-punctuated myself from A.R. Allsopp

Anyway, we're sufficiently far from topic to provide real insight to life with a Garmin. In my experience, they're generally very good at keeping the unwary cyclist confidently pedalling away from their ultimate destination. ;)
