i know theres probably billions of threads on these but i cant seem to find what im looking for, i want to know a few things about it...
if im out and lost can i enter my home address and will it take me there?
can i enter say 30 miles and it will take me 30 mile round trip back to where i started?
and is the map easy to follow, stay on route?

or is there anything else in the same price range that people recomend?

No I think with the 200 you have to pre programme a route and it gives you a breadcrumb trail to follow . Need to go up the range for 'proper' sat nav with mapping

Could be wrong though

A second hand 705 might be obtainable for less than £100. Check it has the maps. Otherwise use your iPhone with a back up battery (although you shouldn't need for a couple of hours riding)

Do you get lost a lot? You can always follow road signs to somewhere you know

200 has no maps so no, none of those features are available. Navigation is by a "breadcumb" trail on a blank background.

For mapping you'll need an edge 800 upwards, an edge touring, or an etrex 20 (last one cheapest, but older, and not designed for cycling).

Oh ok so all you can do it just put a route on it and it takes you the route.

I like that you can do the same route and compete against yourself though with the cycle on the screen to show if you are slower or faster.

Is it easy to stay on route tho, like does it say turn left in 100 yards

No I believe not. You need the 800

The 200 is basically a fancy cycle computer that can link to strava...via a pc

Thanks, think i might spend a little more and get a garmin touring instead.

Have to wait a few weeks tho

The touring can't be paired with heart rate monitor nor cadence sensor, so if you think there is any likelihood you may want those, get an 800 instead

Im not fussed about those really at the moment, main thing i want to do is have a easy to read map so i dont get too lost lol

You can easily load a route into the 200. It has very good turn by turn directions and audible off route/back on route beeps and buzz's should you 'stray'. You would have to be a complete twonk to get lost using one. If, however you do get lost, you can ask the 200 to retrace the exact route you followed to 'there be dragons-land' and it will take you right back to your front doorstep (assuming that's where you started out).

You do not need a map display to navigate a route.

Maps don't stop you getting lost btw.
