Better get in there quick as my local Aldi old out within 12 mins and I managed to nab the last one.... Phew !
I think a sound investment as it saves using your phones battery and although basic, it gives/tells you all you need to know. I purchased one knowing that if I got along with it then I'd upgrade to a 510 or something towards the end of the year.
I looked in our local Aldi for one for my son, but they must have sold out in double quick time. I'd be interested in a 200 if I didn't already own a 510. You certainly won't regret it if you do end up upgrading to a 510. Fantastic bit of kit, with all the information most cyclists would need. The major bonus is that it uses both the American GPS and Russian GLONASS satellite systems, which means it is ultra reliable even under heavy cloud cover, in forests, or highly built up areas. I believe it is the only bike GPS that currently has this ability.

Brilliant bit of kit. If you just want to record your ride it's everything you need, and not a gram more.

Very pleased with mine. It's been very good at ride recording duties and I have set the Garmin site to upload everything to Strava.

Navigation is basic but with a bit of forward planning can be very handy.

I'll always look at a map to check out an unfamiliar route, and have a pretty good memory and sense of direction, but uploading a GPS trail to the Edge 200 has been very helpful on a number of 20 milers. The little breadcrumb line just confirms you're on the right track.

It would be good if I could get it to display the clock as I ride, though. That's the only grumble.

Garmin 200 is excellent for the price.
I took a wrong turn cause I misread the map, and even though I went off the route by a few miles, it still showed the route (at varying scales),
so just by pointing myself in the right direction, I got back on the route smoothly.
Taking a wrong turn happens rarely, and you can tell a few seconds your going the wrong way.

I like to set a route 30 miles ish at the moment, somewhere where I haven't been, and then I will just follow it.

Its fun to see how far you've gone, and the speeds, (on strava) after completing journey.

Battery life seems very good too, but you can pick a £1 battery on ebay to charge it on longer rides.

What garmin do you use for running ? I have just recently got into running and use my phone to record my run at the moment
An FR110. It's quite old but should be cheaper. It's fairly basic. Some of the newer ones like FR620 or 220 have a lot more features, or if you're feeling flush there's the Fenix 3! They are all very accurate though.

Got mine a fortnight before the Aldi announcement.
I only need the basics to track where I've been. A typical 2 hour ride takes about 6% out of the battery, and satellite acquisition is near instant with no blank spots so far.

The battery life for a 200 is easy 12 hours plus. For longer rides, audax etc I always take a power monkey to charge on the go at cafe stops.

Great bit of kit for the money, had mine for over 2 years and its never let me down, even on a slow 100 mile day that lasted over 15 hours.

Just been offered the 800 from a friend so looks like my 200 might be up for sale soon

Don't sell it yet.
See how you get on with the 800 first. They are different beasts.
