Searching seems to suggest there should be no issue in pairing these together, but I cannot seem to get mine to talk to each other. I have removed the battery from the sensor & left it out for several minutes, the sensor is sending out the signal as the old B'Twin speedo is still reading both speed & cadence. Is there anyway to find out what the Ant+ ID is?

I have tried both SPD/CAD & Speed and Cadence settings on the Garmin.

Stupid question, did you wake the sensor up and search for it on the garmin?

Id assume that ANT+ capable devices have a menu somewhere for pairing that may have the ID,

I have the bike on a turbo, so set the Garmin to search & then turned the pedals of the bike, the existing BTwin speedo still read so I know they are transmitting,

The Garmin is looking for a 5 digit ID, can't see that anywhere on the BTwin unit

Try this

Put the battery in backwards, this temporarily shorts the unit and will force it to broadcast it's ANT+ id when you next spin the crank

Then re-scan on the garmin

Already tried it & failed, got a friend who has a Garmin GC-10 sensor so taking my 800 into work tomorrow, if it picks up his then I at least know the Garmin hasn't a fault.

Okay, came into work today with the 800, work colleague has a 705 with the GC-10 sensor, lifted the rear wheel lined up the magnet with the sensor, set the 800 on search & just moved the magnet a couple of times past the sensor, 800 bleeps, the symbol stops flashing & paired immediately. We have a Decathlon about a mile away from work so I walked down at lunch a rare trip out of the office & found a new B'Twin sensor, opened the box, put the 800 on search, moved the magnet near the sensor, 800 bleeped, symbol stops flashing & paired immediately. Bought the new unit anyway as I wanted one for the MTB but it now begs the question why the old one won't pair, going to take the battery out tonight & leave it out for a long time, then try to use a magnet near the sensor rather than spinning the wheel not that theoretically there is any difference.

My 800 was reading cadence intermittently, checked details and the sensor type is set to Speed and Cadence with a sensor ID of 5 numbers, below it says Sensor type spd/cadence, if I I tap sensor type spd/cadence it gives the option to change to Spd/Cad or Speed or Cadence or Speed and Cadence (writing as shown on unit) , if I tap on Cadence (only) it shows no sensor ID would I enter the same ID as for Speed and Cadence, I use the GPS signal to measure speed and wondered if having both enabled was interfering

Theres no real reason to not use the speed magnet too. I don't believe you can use a dual sensor on the cadence only profile.
I ride an ICE 26 NT recumbent trike, the cadence sensor is set on the front derailleur post above the bottom bracket, there is no way the magnet for speed would be of use, I did not know Garmin did a sensor purely for cadence, where would I find one please

google  As long as it's ANT+ it will work, doesn't need to be a garmin unit.

FWIW: Speed/cad sensors like the wahoo fitness or indeed the BTWIN Decathlon one that have a connecting wire, can be split and the cable lengthened by anyone reasonably competent with a soldering iron and a heat gun.
