I have a Garmin 200 and it switched its self off three rides ago, I got back home and just reset it.
On my next trip out it switched its self off again so on getting back home I checked the battery level and that was 76% so I left in plugged in to my lap top to charge it to max..
When that was done I deleted the history but one of the history reading gave the milage of 161.000 which I have no idea who or why it gave that milage..

I reset the Garmin for todays trip and it worked OK but now a buzzer/ alarm goes off every km and the bottom of the screen goes black so in the 25 km ride it went off 25 times, I have no idea why as I never programed that in and wouldn't know how too anyway.
Anyone got any clues perhaps reset the Garmin ( if you can do that)

Cheers

Sounds like it's borked.77
This is how to reset it.
To reset the Edge:
  1. Power device off
  2. Press and hold Lap
  3. Power on device (still holding Lap)
  4. Select Yes when Reset all settings to factory defaults? message appears
The Edge 200 will power off and then back on. The device is now reset and is ready to be used once the initial setup is completed.

If reset doesn't work give Garmin a call, see what they say.

Their customer service is second to none.

My first 200 did the same. Kept switching off with almost a full charge. Send it back. I took mine back to Halfords where I bought it and it was exchanged. I tried deleting all old rides, resets and firmware. Nowt worked.

OK.. this is not going too well at the moment.

Tried what ianrauk said and took the bike out today and the result was it did work, but this alarm kept going off every km..

Contacted the Garmin web site and could not get in because I entered my username which is Boon51 and they said someone of that named is using it ..well there is its me but they wont let me enter..

I contacted another Garim forum only to be told again I cant use Boon51 as its being used..

I then contacted yet another site which did allow me to enter only after I asked what the password was, as they wouldn't except what I had written down.
But alas this went wrong as they have now listed my email address instead of my username which is Boon51.. and still I'm waiting a reply after 4 hours for them to change it.

So to say things have gone from bad to worse is an understatement..

Very unhappy from Trabuco nr Malaga.

You have the distance alert set and on.
To turn off
press settings
press alerts
press distance
the scroll to turn off

Why don't you just re-register with a different name/handle?

Mate,
best thing I did was to just spend time playing with the machine.
Getting to know how it works and what all the buttons do.
Think it would be worth you doing the same.

You might have auto lap alerts switched on. Have a good look through the menu

Just tried it and distance alert is still on.. the clock on the bottom has changes to average speed.

When you stop autopuse comes on where as before the garmin just shut down and stopped and swicted off and when you started again the garmin went back to normal running..
Plus the time of your ride keeps disappearing like the battery's going..

Cheers and thanks for your help mate..

Press the lower left button on ride screen (this changes the bottom 1/4)

Settings - Alerts - Distance - 0 or off (check time and calories while you are there, both off or 0)

Settings - Auto Scroll - Off if doable otherwise "Slow"

And if you wish

Settings - System - Tones (Off)

Just had a dash round the town to do a km and the alarm didn't go off so thats sorted .. It seems I wasnt pressing the SAVE button..

So if its not too hard a task..
On the bottom of my screen used to be a clock and my average time showed up when I plugged in to my laptop, but now its a Average Time display, is it easy to change back to a clock?

Thanks all you helpers..
