I'm about to remove the word "cordially" from the intro as I realised it might look like a clue, which it isn't. I was merely trying to help the thread remain friendly and joyous after a few displays of angst recently.

@Dogtrousers is thinking along the right lines but hasn't quite found the right association yet.

Newton under Roseberry?

I am officially bad at this game unless I recognise it or it features streetview imagery. (Countless hours of geoguessr have honed my streetview skills)

Did we ever work out why the bridge in the last one was so apparently overengineered?

No, but if you look carefully at the photo of the cyclists sitting down there is a sign behind them saying Caution Bridge Ahead has 10T weight limit (not the bridge you're talking about, it must be up the track somewhere). So presumably there is some fairly heavy stuff like forestry? Other than that I have no idea. It's a very minor road in the middle of nowhere.

This is an alternative view, taken from Street View:

The bridge now looks sensibly proportioned, but the view confirms the impression that the builders went to considerable trouble, digging a cutting which in turn provided the material for a substantial embankment. It's a listed structure and was built in 1832, which is at the end of the canal age and just as the railways were getting established. Perhaps it was the fashionable way to do things at the time.

That was a good one @nickyboy. I'm a little disappointed with myself in not spotting the -esque reference. I couldn't think of any other Black/White rivers apart from the Adders and I didn't get round to figuring out a search.

You are all invited to name this road. It sounds as though it might have been on the route of a recent Tour, a day of many tears:

Looks like the Malverns to me, but can't find the road and there are many, many possibilities approaching from the East.

That's why there's a clue. 🚓 ; 🇧🇪 ⛑

I think I'm on the right lines with the clue, particularly after the last two picture hints above, but struggling to find a road or village to match east of the Malverns..

The story so far ...

Police car/cry/Belgian/rescue helmet

Recent sad Belgians in need of rescue include Remco Evenepoel in Il Lombardia, which isn't called a "Tour" and Wout van Aert in the Tour de France 2019. Van Aert crashed in Pau. Julian Alaphilippe won the stage, and got to wear the 100th ever yellow jersey, which may or may not be relevant. Did he shed a tear afterwards? I can't remember. Or are we looking for "tears" as in "rips"

Meanwhile @T4tomo is searching East of the Malverns.

There is a "Pow Green" which sounds like Pau, to the West of the Malverns. I had a very quick look ... no joy but that could be it.

My thought process is Tour of Belgium, tears - Cav's win final stage into Beringen, (also a Beringen in Switzerland - helmet looks like a swiss flag) , so that explains last 3 emoji's, haven't worked out the kop car yet!!

i=s there a road of village that sounds a bit like Beringen in the right place. I was going off Roubaix's guess on malverns, which do look about the right shape. its defo not Roseberry topping
