I like a light breakfast, a bowl of cereal and maybe a banana and carry a banana and/or cereal bar on the ride (which I sometimes eat at the end instead). If I'm going for a fast session I like to preydrate (sip fluid before riding) and have a pasta based meal the night before.

Another one here that goes for Porridge for breakfast, with mixed dried fruit and a sprinkling of nuts. personally I wouldn't do anything special for 20 miles but on longer rides I'd either have a cafe stop and have something like beans on toast or carry slices of malt loaf to eat on the move, after the ride I'd go for mostly protein in the first 20 minutes after I got back, chicken pieces or cold meat in a sandwich.

I have toast for breakfast, a cereal bar after the first hour (about 16 miles), a cereal bar after the second hour if I'm going to be out for more than another 8 or so miles. and a banana when I get back. I did 56 miles last week on a hobnob bar, a small flapjack and an old third of a mars bar I found in my bag. I'm probably not eating enough, but I don't have a clue and I always eat a bigger lunch and supper when I've been out. Oh and a bottle of water to keep my teeth clean.

+1 for porridge and/or granola (low GI innit) - a cup of coffee and then i'm orf and quite happy for 40 miles or so...i reckon 500 cals burned per hour on a ride where your riding within yourself is probably a decent estimate but, that's all it is and as we all know, 85% of statistics are made up :thumbsup:
 
Today's fast'ish 60 miles with the club (65miles if you include transport) I had a bowl of cereal (special K was on offer :blush:) and a banana and a glass of juice pre ride and on the ride when we stopped I had a cereal bar and a 3/4 of a 750ml bottle of energy drink on the move.
The ride was a wee bit longer today and I had two cereal bars, I want to drink more though as I had less fluids today :blush:
