I purchased one of the DX lights, took a month to arrive but unbelivable value, three options on the light, really bright, bright and flashing bright, the lamp is small and connects to the handlebars by the use of O rings, the battery pack is small and ive got mine fitted between the crossbar and the down tube,it comes with a charger and a headset, i think i paid about £29 and thats postage included, well worth it.

Until it breaks. Mine lasted a whole ten minutes: it couldn't handle the voltage of a fully charged battery (I suppose getting capacitors with a sufficiently high voltage rating was too expensive... ). Sigh. If you do use one of the cheap Chinese lights - and why not, most people don't have any problems - it's a good idea to make sure you have a decent backup light.

On the subject of cheap lights, getting a torch and bike mount is probably the cheapest way to go. I've got an Ultrafire 501b with a Cree XP-G lamp (about half the brightness of the XM-L torches) and it's prefectly fine for barreling along at 30 mph. The £20 all in deals you see on eBay are probably the best value, though you'll have to wait a few weeks for delivery. This one, for example. (That's the first one I found on eBay, that's not necessarily the best. And it probably produces 600 lumens, not 1300).

Alternatively, are Planet X still doing the Smart 35 Lunar for £22.50? That's still a decent light: well constructed, good mount and excellent battery life. You just won't be breaking any speed records with that one.

At a basic level you just copy and paste the link in http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Categories.aspx?CategoryID=651 but that can be a bit long in those circumstances if you highlight a word, eg front light and select the chain like symbol with a green box at the bottom, you can paste it in there and click insert.

I just got one of the Chinese jobbies off ebay. Arrived today, supposed to be 1600 lumens, £37. It's on charge at the moment. Certainly feels solid.

Got it following a recommendation off a mate who has had one for a while and thinks they are ace. Can't wait to get out and use it.

Have you got a refund out of them? I was told they'd give me a full paypal refund...but reading up on dealextreme it sounds like its an auto reply to a complaint or a delaying tactic, refund never arrived. I don't think your credit card refund if its via paypal. Paypal don't seem overly helpful either.
