Driving to work earlier, due to afternoon requirements, when I finished, l turned the radio
Instantly, l was transported back 40+ years
My mother was a Big fan of his, & l'm sure l even met him
Gene Pitney, with 'That Girl Belongs To Yesterday'
All these years hence, l can finally appreciate that voice
Heck, I think my mother still has all of the vinyl shown!!
I think, however, I have the one shown at about 2:10 (with Melba Montgomery), due to the Country bias
She used to get hand-written letters/cards from him, at birthdays & Christmas
Parents were even invited to America, to stay with him, but they couldn't afford it in the late 70's, not on the wages of the time
I even met, Dave Allen, due to him!!!
Parents were at Batley Variety Club, to meet him, before he left, & the following nights act was arriving, & somewhere, there is (or was) photos of the three of us with Dave & Gene!!
