Barbara Thompson's Heavenly Bodies LP had an entire side devoted to music inspired by the surrealist paintings of Dominique Appia.
Unfortunately none of his sublime works seem to be available via the 'net, except the ubiquitous "Entre les trous de la Memoire".
This is "Le Grand Voyage", a brilliant exercise in, to my undiscerning ear, two different simultaneous time signatures.

Edit: probably worth your while letting this track run on into the other 4 Appia inspired tracks.
I'll try and photo the copies of the paintings on the LP insert. Maybe tomorrow, if the daylight improves.

Edit: poor quality pics of the LP insert: better ones probably to be found on e.g. Pinterest.
I used to have a poster of Les Barricades... but it was damaged in storage.
