He has told me his parents have never heard any of his music.

Absolutely quality satirical lyrics.

Any conflict will have a folk and music heritage, both sides in Ireland did, and it is only fair to look at the output of all sides

"Soldier" was banned from being played on Armed Forces establishments

There is also a fair number of protestant anthems that have been banned

(Note: Language warning for the next one)

M.A.S.H. Theme tune

Which ban were you referring to?

The BBC Gulf War list included this theme, and is "enlightening"

Whilst some like The Cure’s “Killing an Arab” make sense, others do not have an obvious reason

A few selections from the list

Just to introduce a little controversy...

Patti Smith's Easter album was originally banned because the cover showed an unshaven armpit and the inclusion of "Rock 'n' Roll Nigger" ... strange that the armpit caused as much fuss!

Smith (and others) stated that the "N word" was not used in its racial context, but to describe an outsider with honour and supporting rebellion.

She was trying to remove the word from a racial epithet by using it to describe outcasts of any creed colour or race by challenging its use

Again some caution is required for the lyrics
