I'm surprised we haven't had this yet. A childhood favourite, and something which is both an impeccably well constructed piece of music and a great introduction to the orchestra.



And speaking of childhood favourites, this is something I've been looking for for years. Delighted to have found it again. Ogden Nash's rhymes with Saint-Saens's music.

The other side of the LP was Peter and the Wolf, which I never enjoyed nearly as much. It's popular, but hackneyed.

I love the Peer Ghynt hall of the mountain king - and have played it live in a gig, including the very first note !
