Again, Cheap ski gloves work really well. Got some "Campri" ones from JJB/Chavsports, about £3-00 and they're really toasty, so much so I can only use them when it's getting icy cold.

Barnet,
I have used Altura Shield gloves for the last four years and I can recommend them wholeheartedly. They keep my hands dry in the wet and warm in the cold. What more can you want.

I'm getting a vision of a seaside donkey in a sort of armoured straw hat, with ears poking through...

Hope you find something that works K. I suspect the windproofing is as big a deal as the waterproofing. I have fleece gloves which are ok, but let the wind in, so I have some windproof ones for when it gets really chilly (Altura, I think). Layering might help too - thin gloves inside, bigger thicker ones over the top. As long as it doesn't cut off the circulation....

As I do not like bulky gloves I have just received my ordered http://www.evanscycles.com/products/gore-bikewear/thermopower-under-gloves-ec009547 Gore Thermopower (Under) Gloves They were waiting for me when I returned from a cycle on which I wore Aldi winter gloves. Within seconds of trying on the ultra thin Gore Gloves my hands felt like they were in the hight of summer. I will prob put padded fingerless glover over these but have a good feeling about them
