You need a chain whip and a lockring adapter and a spanner. Chain whip to hold cassette in place, then undo anti clock the lock ring. Remove the cassette. You can now check the freehub and see if there is play. Those look like Mavic wheels, and you can get tech docs from the website showing how to remove the freehub. Mavic bearings are sealed cassette bearings so are relatively easy to pop out.

Try a good clean up first, then an insprection with the cassette off. If there is still play with the cassette off, I am afraid it could well be new freehub time.

New bearings? Just changed mine this morning. A slightly more complexed job, but not impossible at home, although next time I think I will take mine to the shop.

Why to the shop? Took off the cassette and could move the hub slightly. Anyway at least I know how to take it off for a clean. Quick and simple job.

Took the freehub off, doesn't look dirty or any signs of wear. Cleaned it all and reassembled it. Still play......

If the freehub fixing bolt (light green in pic below) is tight on the hub, and the freehub can still move against the hub shell, then the bearings within the freehub (tiny yellow ones in pic) have play. Generally these bearings are not designed to be replaced or repaired, so it would be new freehub / hub / wheel time soon with the choice driven by the make and model of the hub and the state of the rest of the wheel.
