Freewheel or cassette?

I need to replace the chain on my rather old hybrid, and thought I probably should replace the rear cassette/freewheel at the same time. Originally I'd assumed it was a freewheel due to the age of the bike (early-mid 90s Raleigh Pioneer, 7 speed) - however, having looked at Sheldon Brown's page and elsewhere, I think it might be a cassette.

Is anyone able to clear up my confusion? I've attached a pic to this post...

Excellent, thanks for confirming! Time to buy more tools then, as I only have a freewheel remover at the moment (though it does actually fit, for some reason...).

If it fits, use it.

There is one freewheel that has the same spline pattern as Cassette lockrings, can never remember which.
