Freewheel cross threaded with hub

Does sound like she needs constant supervision. What's the bet she puts her back out taking it off.

Oh Pat! Thats terrible. When I did my bike maintenance course the tutor really emphasised the risk of cross threading, so much so that I think I'd be too scared to actually do it by myself!!!!

I did this job twice before with no problems

As a practical tip screw on your freewheel by hand and you will quickly feel if not going on properly.

I always screw the freewheel anti-clockwise first*. When you hear and feel a gentle click, that's the start of the thread, so gently start rotating clockwise by hand and see if it picks up.

* You have to do this with the tool, or you'll just get endless freewheeling clicks!
