It would be interesting to see if other sports tested as often as cycling does I wonder how many would be caught doing stuff.
It depends on the sport, but generally probably not. However cycling has a long history (almost a tradition) of doping, and it is a sport where doping is spectacularly successful. Anything which can increase a cyclists sustainable power output has a direct and significant differential on performance. In sports based around skillsets and technical prowess the impact of doping is still beneficial, but to a lesser extent.
That said there has to be large number of cheats in all sports, just like in life. The frequency of crime is in direct proportion to the chances of being caught. Less testing, and less effective testing means more cheating.
