Hi
I'm new here so a big hello.

I wasn't sure where to post about this as i didn't think it was suitable for tech forum or specifically about mountain biking.

Here's the issue,
In 1997 i bought a Specialized Rockhopper Comp FS, steel frame etc. I had the bike 4 years & the frame then snapped near the dropout & so i took it back to the shop where i bought it (J.E James) & they got me a new frame.

They got me a Specialized A1 Comp Pro frame as the manufacturers didn't have the same frame in stock & they wouldn't give me a lesser cost frame.

Over the last few weeks, i've had a strange 'tinny' kind of noise that has gotten worse & so i had it looked at by another shop & he thought it was a loose bottom bracket, which he tightened & yet the noise is still there! & he can't seem to work out what it is!!
Although, there is a bit of corrosion near the bottle holder bolts & the paint is flaking a tad & he thinks there may be a slight hairline crack somewhere but i can't see any signs!!

This worries me as i don't want to injure myself & worsen the problem.

If i was to take my bike back to the original dealer, would the frame be still under warranty, as i thought Specialized frames had a lifetime warranty? & even though i'm not sure that the frame is the issue, i wonder what the chances are of them doing the same again as they did before.. or maybe i should just ask them to have a look at it. Nobody seems to know what the noise is!!

Many Thanks

The obvious move is to take it back to the shop it came from. If Spesh replace the frame again there is no cost to them.
