Put a set on and don't fret about it, they won't be on for long. Bits will start snapping off after a few rides anyway and by the time winter is over you'll only have about 50% of them left. I've just ordered 2 sets!

Had crud 2s on my winter bike for 3 winters,never lost any bits.
