I notice these wheels have 20 "Memories" on the front and 24 "Memories" on the rear.

The mind boggles.

I have no clue what that means. But from someone who took cycling up seriously 5 or 6 years ago and got sucked into the whole upgrade if you can afford it sales pitch - and was then forced out due to injury - I'd say these are very good wheels at the price for the majority of riders.

I've stripped my bikes down and am back riding my first road bike, an Allez Triple. The difference is in my riding style. I'm going on rides that incorporate every bugga of a hill that I previously bypassed. I'm riding until I can hardly breath - but not giving up.

Any marginal gains I was kidding myself I was making from expensive and lighter parts - I know for a fact I am making - to myself. And I am loving the punishment and achievement.

I think too many people get sidetracked by "weight saving" and posing. These wheels are £60 and have served me well. The tyres you use do make a difference though as I was running an incredibly heavy and slow rolling Conti. Now using Michelin Pro Optimums and they are fantastic.

If I can manage any incline, without even considering getting off, then that's my marginal gain!

I'm a big bloke. And I may need oxygen at the top, but I can get up most hills with the best of them whippets on expensive bikes and wheels....

They certainly are. I've just bought a pair of Shimano RS21s, similar wheels but slightly lighter. I like Shimano wheels, they are always well built and bomb proof - unlike many of the handbuilts you pay a fortune for from so called "Experts" (Yeah, I know there are brilliant wheel builders out there, most aren't).

At that price yours were a steal.
