So what do you think about the Crixus then - is there good clearances for some proper mudguards?? wanting a cheap road bike for the winter and this may fit the bill a bit better than a triban.
My son just got one of these bikes and for £225 (on the webchat the chap kindly gave me a discount code) I think it's a steal.

Carreras are usually solid & reliable and my 11yr old is pleased as punch with this one. He is off like a rocket on it, too. Claris gears seem positive and efficient.

The tyre/frame clearances are fine.

However, you will need to look at the way the back cantilever brake cable is set up. That could interfere with mudguard mounting. A seatpost mounted mudguard would be OK.

I've tried the bib tight version of these and they were good, if a little on the small size - it suggested I need L probably would have been better off with XL.

If you sell yours for £1500? But you got all the parts for it for £350 according to your thread. You might need a couple of hundred for a brand new frame that is the correct size
