I got two jackets for £39 each (hopefully last daily commuting for a year or two). Postage was a bit heavy at £9 for the two, don't know what they charge for one jacket. Having said that, winging over a couple of quid for postage is a bit mean my style.

Does anyone know what the sizing is like for the Varium jackets? Based on chest size I'm a medium but I don't know how much of a "race fit" it is.

but no first hand knowledge. The guide looks similar (check this) to all Altura jackets, so if you're unsure, you could try on a different style somewhere?

Got my red Altura Varium jacket today, just ordered it yesterday. Very impressed. I'm used to the Aldi specials which are fine and do the job but this looks quality.

A real bargain for £44.

Wouldn't mind buying a black one now.

Someone I know on another forum just posted that James Leckie, based in Melville Street, Falkirk (they specialise in buying bankrupt stock, or overstocks from retailers) are getting in 600 Altura Varium soft shell cycling jackets, exactly the same as this, currently on sale at Wiggle .http://www.wiggle.co...CFdPItAodJwYA2A

He will be getting M-XL sizes in red,black or blue. The cheapest I can find this selling on the internet is £125, but most commonly £139. Leckies will be selling these for £39.00!

Update on this - I bought one today and I'm very happy as he has sizes up to XXL. It feels so much better quality than my Lidl and Aldi efforts.

Talking to the shopkeeper, he initially planned to take a bulk order of 600 but his supplier stipulated he would only be allowed to sell them outside the UK. However, after a bit of negotiation, he upped his order to 1000 and is selling them to anyone. They're selling well, but he does have a lot still.

Unfortunately, he's taken one or two abusive phone calls from irate shopkeepers that he's undercutting. Obviously he's selling them for less than they can buy them for.

So a real bargain, not an artificial one.

The label says "Close fitting waterproof jacket cut to fit in the riding position". I normally get an XL due to my, er, expanded six pack but I found that to be a bit snug. Happily, the XXL fits a treat.
