I know what you mean about the dangers of cheap/poor tools but I have no reason to think that there's anything wrong with them. I also have a Pedros set and for all I know these Aldi ones are functionally just as good and I have no reason t think they will damage your bike or its bits. I think they probably carry that German quality mark - forgotten the name of it.

Bike shops are of course full of cheap stuff branded for brand whores and sold dear - water bottle holders and a fair few other things come to mind.

After being on rides where chain tools have been required twice in the last sixmonths or so I thought I better get a new multitool incorporating a chain splitter. Just bought one of these multitools, which at £5.99 is about half what you would pay for a nasty Tescos own brand. It is very compact and seems pretty well built. Bargain

Looks very like one I bought from the Edinburgh Bike Co-op for around £15 just before Christmas. It's a fairly common sort of design I think. I commented to the chap in the shop that it looked similar to a Lezyne one and he said that those were made in a special way - kind of straight of him. All are very probably good enough for the job though. Like my Edinburgh Bike Co-op one it doesn't seem to have the link loosening thing but mine is a spare - not a must.

in the Rapha sale they've knocked the softshell gilet down to 90 quid from 150. Wish I had the spare cash for one, they're really nice
and the Rapha trousers at 50 quid quite tempting that

My size in the gilet just sold out, can stop trying to find the cash....

I returned a pair of the trousers a while ago, they came up ridiculously small, and were really rough on the inside of the waist band
