It should be suitable. Buy it. Only live once and tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone.

And tomorrow the offer had gone. Procrastination loses again.

Good afternoon

I currently commute (36 miles plus) a day on this and it is gobbling up "consumables", BBs, chainrings etc.
£690 last year!

It has a BB30 with Ultegra so needs an adaptor to make the two work together, along with the chainset I also bought something that converts BB30 to "Sensible" (https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/BBSRPFBSA/sram-pressfit-30-to-bsa--adapter--46mm--68-73mm)

Have I bo-boed, I thought EVO386 fitted BB30, oh well, some more wasted money.

I know ..... and that is what made me wonder.... if it sounds too good to be true,

I will find out in a few days.

Bye

Ian

Ian,

I think this is the item you've purchased
https://www.fsaproshop.com/products/gossamer-pro-abs-bb386evo-crankset-2019

Edit - It looks like they do adaptors to fit the BB386 to your BB30 set up
https://shop.fullspeedahead.com/en/bb-adapters/road/adapter-bb386-crank-for-pf30-bb30-frame

Good morning,

Thanks for the links. (@Jenkins)

I also ordered one of these, it should allow me to use threaded Shimano BBs (as posted a few items up @davidphilips ) with the current 6750 crankset.

Many people do a BB30 to Shimano press fit adapter e.g. https://www.merlincycles.com/rsp-bb30-adapter-bearings-for-shimano-chainsets-56022.html but I really hate the idea of banging them out as it seems to be a load in a direction that the frame was not really designed for. Also locally such things are closer to £50!

I am a fairly recent convert from steel frames, square taper BBs and 36 spoke wheels and am using the "wrong" bike for commuting.

My other option is use one of these https://shop.fullspeedahead.com/en/...b386-crank-to-bsa-frame-thread-steel-bearings and put the chainset on my steel framed bike and use that as my commuter.

Bye

Ian

Not sure if this has been posted already but there are free tickets available for the National Cycling Show in Birmingham in June. You need to use the HotDeals code:

https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/free-cycling-show-tixs-nec-bham-only-4075419

No idea if this will be any good as it's not my kind of thing, but if anyone thinks this might be worth putting out to the wider forum please feel free to re post it.

Unless you're local I'd personally say that it's not really worth attending. Last year there were no real bike makers present, no parts/components, smaller/relatively unknown clothing suppliers and a number of sports nutrition suppliers. Good for a hour or so but not much more.

Good info ! i was considering making the [340 mile round] trip. Presuming it looked decent - and of course free tickets being some allure....

I thought from the Vendors listed; it might be a little sparse. But some of the displays kinda inspired me slightly again despite the former information.

But i think your experience / thoughts has settled it. I'm not going !

The main one is at Alexandra Palace in April. Free or discounted tickets do come up if you’re registered for their e-newsletter

Quite a big focus on e-bikes but plenty of human powered and other stuff/clothing

I cycled up last year with a friend as had free tickets and met another friend who lives closeby after. A good day out (other than a bitch of a hill, Swains Lane en route )

I bought that jobsworth stand, and some other sundries I don't really need but that were on fire sale like gloves and neck warmers

I have a park stand in garage for maintenance, but have been wanting another one for the shed to use outside when washing down the bikes after a ride, rather than leaning against the shed etc.

I actually wasted lord knows how much on diesel making extra trips to lidl this autumn waiting for their bike stand to go on firesale due to lack of interest - it never did, they just all (unsold) disappeared one day
